Montgomery County Schools Calendar: 16 Important Dates Left in 2016

BETHESDA, MD — Halloween treats are already dated. It's time to pull out those pumpkin pie recipes — and holiday fruitcake won't be far behind. And, while you're in the kitchen, check your school calendar dates.

We've collected the 16 must-know dates that need to be marked on your calendar through the end of the year, plus a few in January to start the next year.

There's Election Day, Thanksgiving Day and lots of days off around the holidays. You can see the complete Montgomery County Public Schools calendar online.

Mark your calendar for these important dates:

• Monday, Nov. 7: Professional day for teachers, No School for Students
• Tuesday, Nov. 8: Holiday, Schools and Offices Closed
• Thursday, Nov. 10: Early release day for students
• Friday, Nov. 11: Early release day for students
• Wednesday, Nov. 23: Early release day for students
• Thursday, Nov. 24: Thanksgiving Holiday, Schools and Offices Closed
• Friday, Nov. 25: Holiday, Schools and Offices Closed
• Monday, Dec. 26: Holiday, Schools and Offices Closed
• Tuesday, Dec. 27 to Friday, Dec. 30: Winter break, no school for students and teachers

And we'll throw in four important dates to kick off 2017:

• Monday, Jan. 2: Holiday - New Year’s Day Offices and schools closed
• Monday, Jan. 16: Holiday - Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. - Schools and Offices Closed
• Friday, Jan. 20: Holiday - Schools and Offices Closed
• Friday, Jan. 27: Professional day for teachers, No School for Students
