National Night Out 2017: Schedule Of Events In Montgomery County

Communities throughout Montgomery County have National Night Out events planned for Aug. 1.

SILVER SPRING, MD — Montgomery County residents and police will celebrate neighborhoods and get to know each other Tuesday, Aug. 1, at the 34th annual National Night Out observances. National Night Out, which is sponsored by the National Association of Town Watch, is designed to generate neighborhood support and participation in crime prevention efforts and to enhance police and community relations, officials said.

Along with the traditional display of outdoor lights and front porch vigils, many communities celebrate with a events to help neighbors get to know one another and to build community spirit.

The following communities have events planned, according to the Montgomery County Police Department:
1st District:
Open to the Public:

  1. Montgomery County Recreation Department Administrative Offices at 4010 Randolph Rd.; 7 – 9 p.m.

  1. Rockcrest/Rockland communities outside at 1106 Claggett Dr.; 6:30 – 9 p.m.

2nd District:

  4. McKenney Hills / Carroll Knolls at McKenney Hills Park (end of Brunswick Ave. at park) 2515 Hayden Dr.; 6 – 9 p.m.
  5. Hillandale community at West Hillandale Swim Club at 915 Schindler Dr.; 5 – 7 p.m.

5th District:

  1. Germantown Park near community pool, 18400 Cinnamon Drive; 5 – 7 p.m.
  2. Hamptons community near community pool, 19757 Crystal Rock Dr.; 5 – 7 p.m.
  3. Damascus Gardens near community pool, 9829 Bethesda Church Rd.; 6 – 8 p.m.

6th District:
Open to the Public:

  1. Upper County Community Recreation Center at 8201 Emory Grove Rd.; 6:30 – 9:30 p.m.

Community Events:

  1. Walnut Hill community at Washington Grove Elementary School, 8712 Oakmont St.; 6 – 8 p.m.
  2. Saybrooke community at the community pool, 702 Saybrooke Oaks Blvd.; 6 – 10 p.m.
  3. Flower Hill community at 8100 Mountain Laurel Ln.; 6 – 9 p.m.

Additional National Night Out events have been coordinated with other area police departments serving Montgomery County.
