New Amazon Fresh Grocery Store Holds Grand Opening In Chevy Chase

CHEVY CHASE, MD — A new Amazon Fresh grocery store in Chevy Chase held a ribbon-cutting ceremony Thursday morning and is welcoming residents to celebrate its grand opening over the long holiday weekend.

As part of the celebration, the new store will have giveaways, special discounts, and free samples of Aplenty snacks, Amazon Kitchen smoothies, Califia Cold Brew, and Allegro coffee over the new few days.

The store is located at 8525 Chevy Chase Lake Terrace in Chevy Chase. At about 46,000 square feet, it will be the largest Amazon Fresh so far in the Washington, D.C., area, according to the Washington Business Journal.

The Chevy Chase store offers Just Walk Out Shopping, which gives customers the option to skip the checkout line. Customers shopping with the Just Walk Out technology can use a credit or debit card, Amazon One, or the In-Store QR code in the Amazon app to shop.

The store's daily hours will be 7 a.m. to 10 p.m.

Another Amazon Fresh opened at 5463 Wisconsin Avenue in the Friendship Heights area a year ago. Elsewhere in Montgomery County, an Amazon Fresh is under construction in the former Office Depot building on Shady Grove Road in Gaithersburg, Bethesda Beat reported. The first Amazon Fresh in the D.C. area opened in Franconia, Virginia, in May 2021.

Amazon Fresh has a wide assortment of national brands and produce, meat and seafood, as well as a range of prepared foods made fresh in the store every day, from fresh-baked bread and made-to-order pizzas to rotisserie chickens and hot sandwiches.

The store also offers 365 by Whole Foods Market organics, plus national brands like Coca-Cola and Kraft Mac and Amazon-exclusive brands like Aplenty, Cursive and Fresh. It also offers local brands like Rise Up Coffee, Gunter’s Honey, and milk from Dairy Maid Dairy.
