New Charges Against Mom of Missing Toddlers

Police continue to build a homicide case against the mother of two children, while their father is organizing search efforts.

New charges have been filed against Montgomery County mother Catherine Hoggle as the search continued Wednesday in the Darnestown and Clarksburg areas for her missing toddlers.

According to an online case search, Hoggle, 27, is now charged with two counts of detaining a child in the state. She remains in the Montgomery County Detention Center on a $1 million bond. She is also ordered to undergo a psychiatric evaluation. Her next court appearance is set for Sept. 30.

Hoggle was arrested Sept. 12 in connection with the disappearance of her two toddlers, Jacob, 2 and Sarah, 3. The children have been missing for more than a week. Hoggle was initially charged with child neglect and obstructing and hindering.

The children’s father and extended family don’t know where the youngsters are; Hoggle refuses to tell family or police where she left the children. Over the weekend police officers with search dogs and cadaver dogs searched more than a dozen sites in the county for the children, but found nothing.

Family members have said Hoggle is a paranoid schizophrenic who stopped taking her medication.

Montgomery County Police said Wednesday they continue to build a homicide case against Hoggle.

However, the children’s father, Troy Turner continues to gather search teams to help find his children.

The children’s father, Troy Turner, said Monday he believes his children are still alive and with someone.

“She’s making choices that aren’t real,” Turner said at a press conference, reports Montgomery Community Media. “She’s not making good choices right now. I feel like she knows where the kids are. I believe she’s dropped them with somebody,” he said, adding that a reward is being offered in the case. “I just want whoever has them to bring them back to me.”

A Facebook page has been set up to spread awareness of the Hoggle case. A Go Fund Me account has been established to create a reward in the case and had $2,277 in the account late Wednesday afternoon.
