Northwest meets Montgomery in inner county playoff clash
The Montgomery County schools will meet in the first round of the playoffs Friday
The Montgomery Rockets (7-3) will be heading to Germantown this weekend as they face off against the Northwest Jaguars (8-2) in the first round of the Maryland 4a football playoffs.
Montgomery enters the game on a hot streak. They have won three straight, and blew out Montgomery Blair last weekend in a 38-13 rout. They have outscored their opponents by over 100 points the past three weeks. The Rockets are led by the impressive running back due of Jaime Castro and Zion Tyler who both found the end zone last week. Wide receiver Darynn Alexander is their leading receiver, as he has been the main beneficiary of dual threat quarterback Spencer Silverstein's arm.
The Jaguars bounced back from a tough loss against Quince Orchard by blowing out Bethesday 52-0 last weekend. Northwest may be a better team then their record indicates as their only two losses have come against a 9-1 Orchard team and the always tough Good Counsel. They have a dual threat quarterback of their own in Chris Craddock, and an impressive talent in Andrew Howard at wide receiver.

The two teams met earlier this season when the Jaguars beat the Rockets 49-24 in October. Northwest ran away with that game, outscoring Montgomery 35-3 in the second half. The Jaguars will be heavy favorites to win again this weekend and can take the first step towards their lofty aspirations this fall.
