When I was a kid, my grandfather was always big on family. He taught me many life lessons, but one that stood out was about our family pet, “Scotty.” Scotty was a gruffy Scottish Terrier that followed my grandpa everywhere- he was always at his feet. I asked my grandpa why Scotty loved him so much. He told me: “Scotty is a great judge of character” (with a grin). “In the wild, dogs roam in packs, and when you treat them with love and care they respect you and will be faithful to the pack.” I consider this when I care for my own pets and those of my clients.
