BETHESDA, Md., August 20, 2014 – The Parents Choice of Maryland has named Rose Li as a “Top Pick” for the Maryland House of Delegates. Li is a candidate for District 16, which includes Bethesda, Chevy Chase, Glen Echo, Potomac, and Rockville.
“It is an honor to receive this endorsement from the Parents Choice of Maryland,” said Li, a long-time Bethesda resident and small business owner. “As a parent myself, I am committed to putting Montgomery County first and making Maryland stronger through smart, sensible and sustainable solutions.”

According to its website, the Parents Choice of Maryland wants “leaders who are committed to making Maryland stronger and better than it is today with full employment, a positive balance of trade, more opportunities, lower cost of living and a friendly atmosphere for everyone to enjoy.”

Li’s campaign platform aligns with the organization’s vision.

“We must do better, and we can do better,” said Li. “We need greater focus on promoting economic development, easing overcrowding in our schools, increasing budget transparency and accountability, and securing needed resources and infrastructure for District 16.”

Put Montgomery County First: Li advocates for growing business investment with lower tax rates and creating a friendlier climate that will foster increased regional competitiveness and keep jobs, businesses, and residents in Maryland. In contrast, the House of Delegates incumbents have voted 85 percent of the time against the interests of businesses in just the past year alone. In addition, Montgomery County only receives 20 cents for every tax dollar residents send to Annapolis. Howard County, with higher median household income and smaller proportion of people living below poverty level gets 30 cents returned.

Make Children a Priority: Li wants to ensure Montgomery County gets its fair share of school funding in order to ease overcrowding and ultimately modernize, and improve students’ education and experience.

Improve Quality of Life: Li wants to ease traffic congestion, reign in traffic cameras, and reduce power outages. Among the approaches she will fight for are moving to a performance-based funding strategy to focus investment, stop the raiding of the Transportation Trust Fund for non-transportation infrastructure use, and appointing Public Service Commissioners committed to consumer-centric oversight of Pepco.

Li also has been endorsed by the DC Chapter of the 80-20 Initiative, which is a national, nonpartisan, political action committee dedicated to winning equal opportunity and justice for Asian Americans.
