Police Identify Wheaton Homicide Victim

A Wheaton woman was found dead in her home Wednesday and police say the death is suspicious.

WHEATON, MD — The death of a Wheaton woman in her home is suspicious and is being treated as a homicide by Montgomery County Police.

The death of Linda Cheryl Johnson, 72, whose body was found in her residence on Arcola Avenue, has been called suspicious and police are treating it as a homicide, officials said.

Shortly after 4 p.m. Wednesday, authorities were called to Johnson's residence in the 2700 block of Arcola Avenue in Wheaton for the report of a suspicious situation. First responders who entered the home and found the deceased victim; there was evidence of trauma to her body, police say.

Police have not released any information on a possible suspect, how Johnson was killed or who found her.
