Police Plan Sobriety Checks Tonight in Montgomery County

Impaired drivers will be the focus of a police sobriety checkpoint somewhere in Montgomery County late April 21.

Drivers out in Montgomery County tonight, April 21, could run into a sobriety checkpoint.

The Montgomery County Police Department says the sobriety checkpoint is part of its ongoing work to curb impaired driving and underage drinking.

The exact location of the checkpoint will not be disclosed in advance.

The checkpoint is scheduled to begin at 11 p.m. April 21 and the checkpoint will be cancelled if there is inclement weather.

Police urge anyone consuming alcohol tonight to choose a sober driver.

The penalties for a DUI or DWI in Maryland consist of potential jail time, fines, and a minimum of a six-month license suspension.
