Power Outages, Trees Down From High Winds In Montgomery County

With winds gusting over 60 mph Monday, Silver Spring and Bethesda residents saw immense damage.

BETHESDA, MD — Montgomery County residents are facing power outages, trees blocking the roads, school closings and damages Monday morning due to strong 60 mph winds.

The National Weather Service issued a High Wind Warning for Maryland, D.C. and Virginia in effect until 6 p.m. that was canceled late Monday morning, and replaced by a Wind Advisory in effect until 6 p.m.

Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Services spokesman Pete Piringer warned residents to use extreme caution around downed and damaged power lines. Don't remove fallen tree limbs or other debris from lines and treat all wires as if they're live, he tweeted.
