Same Robber Hits CVS, Rite Aid Pharmacies: Police

2 CVS pharmacies in Bethesda and one Rite Aid in Silver Spring Pharmacies were likely robbed by the same suspect, police say.

BETHESDA, MD — The same man, armed with a handgun, is believed to have robbed two CVS pharmacies in Bethesda and a Rite Aid store in Silver Spring early Thursday, according to Montgomery County Police. Authorities have released surveillance video of the suspect from the businesses in hopes that the public can help identify him.

  • The first robbery was reported at 2:51 a.m. Thursday at the CVS Pharmacy, 6917 Arlington Road in Bethesda. The black male suspect, wearing dark clothing and concealing his face, entered the store, approached an employee, and showed a handgun. The suspect demanded cash and assaulted the store employee, then fled.
  • Next, an attempted robbery was reported at the Rite Aid at 1411 East West Highway in Silver Spring, at 5:16 a.m. The suspect approached an employee, showed a handgun, and demanded cash. Officers say the robber left the store without taking any cash or property.
  • The third robbery was reported at 5:34 a.m. at the CVS Pharmacy located at 7809 Wisconsin Ave. in Bethesda. Police say the robber showed a handgun to an employee, ordered that they hand over cash, and then left.

Anyone with information about the suspect or the robberies is asked to call police at 240-773-5070. To make an anonymous tip, call Crimes Solvers of Montgomery County at 1-866-411-TIPS (8477). Crime Solvers will pay a cash reward of up to $10,000 for information provided to them that leads to an arrest in this case.
