Sobriety Checkpoint Set for July 15 in Montgomery County

Montgomery County Police will conduct a sobriety checkpoint on Friday night, July 15, starting at 10 p.m.

A drunk-driving checkpoint will operate on Friday night, July 15, in Montgomery County, says the Montgomery County Police Department.

Authorities say the checkpoint is a tool to fight impaired driving on Montgomery County roads and curb underage drinking.

No location for the checkpoint has been released. It is scheduled to begin at 10 p.m.

The checkpoint times are approximate and the checkpoint will be cancelled if there is inclement weather.

Police urge anyone who will be drinking alcohol Saturday night to choose a sober driver.

The penalties for a DUI or DWI in Maryland consist of potential jail time, fines, and a minimum of a 6-month license suspension.
