Chef José Andrés' Restaurant Spanish Diner Named To Eater D.C.'s 'Hot New Brunch' List

BETHESDA, MD — Celebrity Chef José Andrés' newest Bethesda restaurant has been named to Eater D.C.'s list of hottest new brunch spots around Washington, D.C.

Spanish Diner was ranked first on the list of 14 restaurants. Spanish Diner opened on Woodmont Avenue in Bethesda in May of this year, serving up breakfast all day and Spanish homestyle cooking.

In addition to running several restaurants, Andrés is also the founder of World Central Kitchen, which provides foods for victims of natural disasters. In August, Andrés was in Louisiana to feed people who were affected by Hurricane Ida.

Eater D.C. shared some of its highlights from visiting the restaurant:

Huevos rotos (broken eggs) are served on a bed of fried potatoes and a choice of meats (jamón, morcilla, chistorra) meant to be coated in silky yolks. Callos, a Madrid-style tripe stew, feature a thick, comforting broth with pops of chickpeas and chorizo. Classic Spanish tortillas and familiar favorites such as ensalada rusa or light gazpacho are available, too. For something lighter, go for the compressed drunken pineapple that sponges up rum, lime, and mint.
