(Updated at 5:35 p.m. Wednesday) WHEATON, MD — Authorities have released the name of one of two men killed when they were stabbed at Westfield Wheaton mall following a fight. Montgomery County Police say Angel Alfredo Pineda-Gomez, 22, of Silver Spring, died Tuesday from stab wounds; the identity of the second victim is not confirmed at this time.

Both victims died within an hour of being taken to area hospitals on Tuesday. Emergency dispatchers received a call reporting an assault and possible stabbings at 3:17 p.m. at the mall, 11160 Veirs Mill Road in Wheaton. Police and Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Services personnel found two male victims on the lower level of the mall suffering from stab wounds. Authorities haven't disclosed how many times the victims were stabbed, a possible weapon or where the victims were wounded.

Investigators believe that the suspect and a small group of subjects, including the two victims, fought in the lower level of the mall a short time before the stabbings occurred. Investigators are working to confirm a motive for the stabbings and a description of the suspect.
