Stranger Beckons Chevy Chase Boys to His Car
Montgomery County Police say a man tried to lure two brothers to his car, saying he would give them a ride to school.

CHEVY CHASE, MD — Two boys playing basketball in front of their Chevy Chase home when they were approached by a man who offered to give the youngsters a ride has prompted warnings from Montgomery County Police and neighborhood leaders.
The suspicious encounter was reported about 6:43 a.m. Friday by a parent in the 2600 block of Colston Drive in Chevy Chase.

Police say two brothers, ages 4 and 7, were in their front yard playing when a vehicle, described as a blue or green sedan, stopped in front of the residence. The male driver was described as having short gray hair and a beard, possibly in his 50s or 60s.
Authorities say the driver rolled down the car window and told the boys he would give them a ride to school as he motioned for them to come to the vehicle.

Bethesda magazine reports the boys' parent posted on the Rock Creek Forest neighborhood listserv to warn others about the stranger danger. The brothers ran inside and told their mother about the man, and she called police.
The police department says it has increased patrols in the area.
