Students at Bethesda Country Day School® Bug Out for Earth Day
Students celebrated Earth Day and protecting the environment by releasing 1,500 beneficial bugs into their schoolyard

On April 21, students at Bethesda Country Day School bugged out in celebration of Earth Day as they released more than 1,500 ladybugs throughout the schoolyard and back into the environment on plants, flowers and trees. Students and teachers were dressed for the occasion in the likeness of ladybugs, wearing red and black clothing and antennae. In addition to the release, students made ladybug-themed art.
Leading up to Earth Day, students learned that ladybugs serve as a natural pesticide by feeding on insects that could otherwise harm the health of gardens, trees and shrubs. Bethesda Country Day School teaches the importance of community and exploring nature at an early age.
