Suspect Convicted in 'Weed Dealer's' 2012 Murder

A Prince George's County man has been found guilty of shooting a Silver Spring man over an unpaid loan to a customer.

SILVER SPRING, MD — A Prince George’s County man has been convicted of killing a Silver Spring drug dealer over an unpaid loan to one of his customers.

Jesse Campos, 21, was shot dead in his White Oak apartment in December 2012.

Prosecutors told WTOP a judge found Michael A. Clinton, 30, of Bladensburg, guilty Thursday in the death of Campos. A co-defendant, Steven Webster of Laurel, had previously pleaded guilty to armed robbery and other charges and acted as a lookout for Clinton.

Webster and Clinton are both set to be sentenced May 27.

Charging documents say Imani Cook -- who lived in the same apartment complex as Campos -- told a friend Campos was her “weed dealer.” Campos had reportedly accepted a loan from her, which he had not repaid, according to police.

Webster and Clinton reportedly entered Campos’ apartment armed with handguns and shot him, according to police.
