Suspects Arrested in 'Pack-Style' Robberies at Bloomingdale's

Montgomery County Police are asking the public to identify another suspect, and locate two teens who used pepper spray on security guards.

Four teenagers have been charged as adults in a July 3 robbery at Bloomingdale’s in Chevy Chase, during which police say the suspects used pepper spray on guards to escape.

Montgomery County Police detectives are asking the public for help identifying one other suspect, and in locating two teens being sought on arrest warrants in the case.

The robbery at Bloomingdale’s, 5300 Western Avenue in Chevy Chase, took place when a group of males and females in their teens and early 20s entered the store, concealed merchandise and tried to leave without paying. Loss prevention officers were pepper-sprayed and assaulted by the suspects when they were approached outside the store, police say.

Four juveniles have charged as adults in the robbery. They are:

  • Germaine Johnson, 17, of an unconfirmed address, is charged with armed robbery, conspiracy to commit armed robbery, first-degree assault, second-degree assault, and theft $1,000 to under $10,000. Johnson is in custody in Washington D.C. and is awaiting extradition to Montgomery County.
  • Ahmaad Mattocks, 17, of the 2300 block of High Street in Washington, D.C., is charged with armed robbery, conspiracy to commit armed robbery, first-degree assault, second-degree assault, and theft between $1,000 to under $10,000. Mattocks has been extradited to Montgomery County and is currently being held on an $85,000 bond.
  • Chyna Crawford, 17, of the 1800 block of 29th Street in Washington, D.C., is charged with armed robbery, conspiracy to commit armed robbery, and theft $1,000 to under $10,000. Crawford is in custody in Washington D.C. and is awaiting extradition to Montgomery County.
  • Tarjenay Edwards, 16, of the 2300 block of 18th Street in Washington, D.C., is charged with armed robbery, conspiracy to commit armed robbery, first-degree assault, second-degree assault, and theft $1,000 to under $10,000. Edwards is in custody in Washington D.C. and is awaiting extradition to Montgomery County.

Detectives have obtained an arrest warrant charging Tyler Muhammad, 16, of the 3300 block of Curtis Drive in Suitland, as an adult for armed robbery, conspiracy to commit armed robbery, first-degree assault, second-degree assault and theft $1,000 to under $10,000.

Police also obtained an arrest warrant for Special Roper, 18, charging her with armed robbery, conspiracy to commit armed robbery, conspiracy to commit first-degree assault, second-degree assault, and theft $1,000 to under $10,000. Detectives are asking the public for help in locating Muhammed and Roper.

Investigators identified Roper, Johnson, and Muhammed from tips received from social media and Crime Solvers.

Detectives continue to ask for help in identifying another unknown suspect from the robbery. (See attached photos.)
