Trader Joe's Recalls Nuts for Possible Contamination

The Bethesda Trader Joe's is one of dozens of stores recalling nuts that may be contaminated by Salmonella.

Trader Joe’s has recalled all lots of Trader Joe’s Raw Cashew Pieces after notification by its supplier that one specific lot may be contaminated with Salmonella.

The barcode number of the affected nuts is 00505154 and it is marked with “BEST BEFORE 07.17.2016TF4.”

The product was distributed only to Trader Joe’s stores in Maryland, 29 other states and the District of Columbia. There are locations of the chain in Bethesda, Silver Spring, Rockville and Gaithersburg.

In a statement, Trader Joe’s said that it is recalling all lots of Trader Joe’s Raw Cashew Pieces “out of an abundance of caution” and that the sale of the nuts has been suspended while the matter is investigated.

No illnesses have been reported to date.

Anyone who purchased the nuts with the specified lot code is urged not to eat them, and to either discard them or return them to any Trader Joe’s for a full refund.
