Traffic Alert: Gas Line Rupture Prompts Evacuations

Montgomery County authorities still have some streets blocked off along Montgomery Lane and Hampden Lane.

Construction crews working along Montgomery Lane near the Bethesda Metro hit a gas line Tuesday afternoon, prompting street closure and evacuations, authorities said.

Pete Piringer, spokesman for Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Services, said a two-inch high-pressure gas line was broken. Gas company workers were on the scene to make repairs.
