Traffic Alert: Lane Closure Thursday on West Cedar Lane
State Highway officials say the lanes will reopen by 4 p.m. daily; work should be done by late fall.

The right-turn lane on westbound West Cedar Lane at MD 187 (Old Georgetown Road) in Bethesda will close starting at 10 a.m. Thursday for sidewalk construction, says the State Highway Administration.
Weather permitting, this phase of construction should be complete by late fall, the SHA says.
Drivers will use one lane to turn left, right or continue straight through the intersection during the day. The right turn lane will reopen no later than 4 p.m. each weekday.

SHA placed electronic message boards near the intersection earlier this week to warn drivers of the upcoming temporary lane restriction. Drivers should add extra commute time and expect delays during the sidewalk construction.
Pedestrian traffic will be maintained at all times, although sidewalk users may have to use the safest crossings within the work zone including those on the opposite side of street.
