Traffic Alert: Old Georgetown Road Gets Refresh, Bike Lane

Starting Tuesday night, drivers should expect intermittent road closures on Old Georgetown Road in Montgomery County.

BETHESDA, MD — State transportation officials say a months-long resurfacing project on Old Georgetown Road will shut down lanes almost daily, starting Tuesday night.

Crews will be patching and resurfacing Old Georgetown Rd (MD 187) between Cedar Lane and I-495. Once work is complete, crews will re-stripe the road and add a dedicated bike lane with a five-foot buffer.

Drivers should expect intermittent lane closures on Old Georgetown Road weekdays between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. and overnight, Sundays through Thursdays between 9 p.m. and 5 a.m.
