Traffic Alert: Sobriety Checkpoint Friday Night in County

Montgomery County Police will have a DUI checkpoint operating April 8; the location will not be announced in advance.

You’ve been warned drivers, so only climb behind the wheel tonight if you are sober.

The Montgomery County Police Department will set up a sobriety checkpoint will be set up starting at 10 p.m. Friday, April 8, in an unspecified part of the county.

The checkpoint is part of the department’s continuing effort to curb impaired driving and underage drinking, officials said.

The exact location of the checkpoint will not be disclosed in advance. The checkpoint times are approximate and the checkpoint will be cancelled if there is inclement weather, police said.

The penalties for a DUI or DWI in Maryland consist of potential jail time, fines, and a minimum of a 6-month license suspension.
