Upscale Co-Working Firm Signs Bethesda Lease

BETHESDA, MD — An upscale co-working space has announced plans to open at 4500 East West Highway in downtown Bethesda.

New York-based Serendipity Labs Inc. has signed a lease with Carr Properties for 19,000 square feet of office and retail space.

The building is a few blocks east of the Bethesda Metro station. Serendipity Labs will join tenants Rapid Advance and Teaching Strategies in the building, reports Bethesda Magazine.

Startups make up 20 percent of Serendipity Labs’ members, while 45 percent are employees of established companies and 35 percent are independent workers, according to the company.

Unlike other co-working spaces, women make up 40 percent of Serendipity Labs’ members, reportedly more than double the industry average, says the Washington Business Journal.

The Bethesda site will offer specials for offices and team rooms, says the publication. It also will provide private access to a cafe, work lounge and rooftop event venue for members.

Serendipity Labs typically offers members:

• Guest reception and concierge services
• Access to meeting and presentation space
