The Voice's Producer Instructs Teens this Summer

NBCUniversal Producer, Dean McFlicker, known for The Voice, The Wiz Live, and Hairspray Live instructs Grades 6+ in musicals for the camera

Musical Theatre Training for the camera has never been so fun or so accessible for young teens!

In Session I of the Summer Musical Theatre Training Program, students will learn performance techniques with faculty, an on-camera acting instructor, and receive face-time with award-winning NBC producer and talent scout Dean McFlicker (The Voice, Smash, America’s Got Talent, The Sound of Music Live, The Wiz Live) for a once in a lifetime master class on musical theater dance for the camera. This program will provide young performers with a diversified skillset both on stage and on screen. Students will have the opportunity to perform one of their pieces filmed in a typical studio-setting.

Dean McFlicker is Senior Vice President and Creative Director of Original Production, Live Events and Promotional Programming, NBC Entertainment, where he is an award­‐winning producer and director of countless productions and has created campaigns for some of the most successful shows on television, including The Voice, This Is Us, America’s Got Talent, World of Dance, ER, Law & Order, SVU, Smash, Heroes, The Apprentice, The West Wing, The Biggest Loser, Friday Night Lights, Days of Our Lives, Las Vegas, Fear Factor, Deal or No Deal, Chicago Fire, American Dreams, Nashville Star, and all of NBC’s recent musicals including the ratings phenomenon The Sound of Music Live.

He has also produced for CNN, HBO, “Entertainment Tonight,” “E! News Daily,” and “Good Morning America” and was the writer, director and producer of Hairspray Live’s half hour syndicated ‘making of’ special and the writer and executive producer of “Heroes: Countdown to the Premiere” a one-hour NBC special starring the cast of Heroes that was an advertiser sponsored premiere party, publicity/press red-carpet event and a highly rated hour of original primetime programming all at the same time.
On Broadway, he choreographed Sha*Bang (Lincoln Center), Gypsy of the Year (Virginia Theater), Upfront (Radio City Music Hall) as well as original dance productions at Studio 54, the Palladium and LA’s Wilshire Theater, Universal Amphitheater, Royce Hall and The Geffen. Proudly, he was also one of the creators of the cult hit Octomom: The Musical. In Hollywood, he has done countless TV shows, music videos and international concerts with Tina Turner, Prince, Barry Manilow, Ray Charles, The Temptations, Kool and The Gang, The Pointer Sisters, Debbie Reynolds, and Carol Channing to name a few.
