Washington Conservatory Faculty Showcase Concert

Washington Conservatory of Music faculty present a free 1-hour concert. Free-will donations will go to scholarships for low-income students.

Bethesda, MD – On Saturday, November 14 at 8 pm, six faculty members of the Washington Conservatory of Music will present a Showcase Concert as part of the Washington Conservatory Piano Plus Concert Series, at Westmoreland Congregational Church, 1 Westmoreland Circle, Bethesda, MD – at Massachusetts and Western Avenues, the border of Washington DC and Bethesda. The concert is free with donations welcome at the door. All donations will be used to benefit the Washington Conservatory student scholarship fund for low-income families.

The concert features a potpourri of musical selections – a series of works, each less than ten minutes in length – to showcase varied instruments, musical genres, composers and musicians. The concert is approximately one hour in length and suitable for all ages. The audience is invited to meet with the musicians following the concert.

Performers include Nancy Almquist, soprano; Suzanne Gekker; clarinet, Jaewon Lee, piano; Steffani Kitayama, violin; Chris Barrick, vibes; and Audrey Andrist, piano. Music featured includes Schubert’s “Der Hirt auf dem Felsen” for soprano, clarinet and piano, works for piano by Henri Dutilleux and Schumann, a solo for vibes by Bill Evans, and a work for solo violin by Astor Piazzolla .

The Washington Conservatory is a nationally accredited community music school for students of all ages, located in Bethesda and Glen Echo Park. The Conservatory welcomes both seasoned and novice classical concert-goers and encourages families to attend with their children. Back balcony seating is suggested for families with small children for napping and easy exit.

Parking is in the church lot and on-street on Massachusetts and Western Avenues.
