Weather Message from Montgomery County Schools

Public schools in Montgomery County will be closed on Tuesday, Feb. 16.

School offices will open on a three-hour delay, Montgomery County Public Schools officials advised.

Day care programs may open at 11:30 a.m., according to officials.

A winter storm warning is in effect for Montgomery County until 10 a.m. with up to 0.25-inch ice possible from freezing rain, according to the National Weather Service, which said slippery roads were in the forecast until temps rise to the lower 30s Tuesday morning.

The Maryland State Highway Administration advised there were isolated icy patches on roads, particularly on elevated surfaces, and state transportation officials recommended delaying travel plans.

Montgomery County Public Schools are closed today (February 16) due to emergency weather conditions. All school-sponsored and community-use activities in school buildings are canceled.

Administrative offices will open three hours late. Day care programs in school buildings may open after 11:30 a.m.
