Weekend Plans? Come Play at Dig-It! Games in Bethesda

Dig-It! Games will hold its second Open House on Saturday, October 11 during Taste of Bethesda.

Dig-It! Games, an independent developer of digital learning games for kids, is opening its doors for a behind-the-scenes look at how video games are made. They are inviting families, teachers and game lovers to to stop by the studio (located within the Woodmont Triangle) during Taste of Bethesda, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Participants have the opportunity to learn about programming, try their hand at digital art and get a sneak peek at games in development.They can also win prizes including an iPad mini and App Store gift cards.

Located just a few blocks from the Bethesda Metro at 7801 Norfolk Avenue #200, the event is free and open to the public.

Dig-It! Games has produced multiple award-winning games for download on iTunes. The top-rated app Mayan Mysteries, featured as a top download for Kids Ages 9-11 on iTunes, is a long-term, cross-curricular adventure in which students are turned into archaeologists chasing a notorious thief through eight real Maya sites, solving problems and learning about the Maya along the way.

One of Dig-It! Games’ recent releases is Loot Pursuit: Pompeii, which just earned a National Parenting Publication Award (Silver) as an app for kids. In the game, players race against the clock to solve Common Core-aligned math problems and save stolen artifacts.

There are several games in development, and the Open House will provide an opportunity for visitors to see how these video games are brought to life, from art to development to beta-testing.
