- Grab your phone, take a photo and send it in for our annual Day in the Life of Montgomery County event. Come back often to see the resulting crowd-sourced photo collage. New this year, $1 will be donated to Manna Food for every photo or video submitted. Submissions are accepted all day.
- Cameo performs at Bethesda Blues & Jazz Club with two shows at 7 and 10 p.m.
- Olney Theatre presents Dial ‘M’ for Murder at 8 p.m.
- Round House Theatre presents Tennessee Williams’ Cat on a Hot Tin Roof at 8 p.m. in Bethesda.
- Montgomery College presents the play Conference of the Birds based on a long Persian poem written in 1177 by the poet Farid ud-Din Attar at 8 p.m. at the Parilla Performing Arts Center in Rockville.
- Montgomery College hosts the Mid-Maryland Guitar Festival this weekend with numerous masterclasses and a concert Friday and Saturday night. This takes place at MC’s Rockville Campus.
- Round House Theatre presents Tennessee Williams’ Cat on a Hot Tin Roof at 8 p.m. in Bethesda.
- Olney Theatre presents Dial ‘M’ for Murder at 8 p.m.

- The C&O Canal Trust is hosting a series of Canal Pride Days throughout the park where the public is invited to volunteer for a day of restoration, revitalization and fun. Today’s event is at Great Falls from 9 a.m. – noon. Registration is required.
- Community “Green Up Day” takes place at numerous neighborhoods in Gaithersburg from 9 a.m. to noon.
- The Mid-Maryland Guitar Festival continues today at Montgomery College – the day includes numerous masterclasses and concerts. The festival takes place at MC’s Rockville Campus.
- The Puppet Co presents Sleeping Beauty at Glen Echo Park at 11:30 a.m. and 1 p.m.
- Montgomery College presents the play Conference of the Birds based on a long Persian poem written in 1177 by the poet Farid ud-Din Attar at the Parilla Performing Arts Center in Rockville. Two performances at 2 and 8 p.m.
- Olney Theatre presents Dial ‘M’ for Murder at 2 and 8 p.m.
- Round House Theatre presents Tennessee Williams’ Cat on a Hot Tin Roof at 2 and 8 p.m. in Bethesda.
- The Goddard School‘s Spring Fling includes clowns, gymnasts, musical performances, carnival-themed snacks and ponies. The school is located at 8611 Second Avenue in Silver Spring. The event runs from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
- AFI Silver Theater is screening Gone With the Wind at 2:30 p.m. Author James Curtis will sign copies of his book William Cameron Menzies: The Shape of Films to Come beginning at 1 p.m.
- The 8th Annual Lions’ Roar 5K race takes place at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic School in Bethesda at 8 a.m.
- Davy Knowles performs at Bethesda Blues & Jazz Club at 8 p.m.
- AMP by Strathmore presents ‘Live in Central Park [Revisited],‘ a tribute to Simon & Garfunkel at 8 p.m. in Bethesda.
Sunday, April 24
- Pike’s Peek 10K road race is this morning. Runners start at Shady Grove Metro Station and finish near the White Flint Metro Station. Expect road closures during the race.
- The annual Give and Ride food drive runs today through Saturday, April 30. Receive a free bus ride by participating in the food drive. All donations go to Manna Food Center and needy area families. Help stamp out hunger in Montgomery County.
- The dedication ceremony for the Potomac Adaptive Sports Court takes place at the Potomac Community Recreation Center at 9:30 a.m.
- Kensington celebrates The International Day of the Book with their annual street festival from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Plan your visit with thisschedule of events. Master of ceremonies and author Steve Piacente talks about the festival in this article.
- The Puppet Co presents Sleeping Beauty at Glen Echo Park at 11:30 a.m. and 1 p.m.
- The 27th annual Rockville Science Day takes place at the Rockville Campus of Montgomery College today from noon to 5 p.m. This free, family-friendly event includes hands-on exhibits, demonstrations and performances in all fields of science.
