Government offices
It's a federal holiday, so federal and state government offices will be closed.

There is no change in the normal trash pickup schedule.

Monday is a staff development day, so Montgomery County Public Libraries are closed.

Schools

Oct. 9 is a normal school day for Montgomery County Public Schools, with open houses scheduled.

Bus service

Ride-On buses operate on a weekday schedule for Columbus Day.

Post offices
The day is a holiday for postal workers, so don’t expect mail delivery and your local post office is closed.

Banks
Most banks are closed for Columbus Day, with a few exceptions, including Wells Fargo and TD Bank.

Grocery and retail stores
Major grocery store chains will operate normal hours on Monday, as will retailers like Target and Walmart.
