What's Open, Closed For Labor Day 2021 Around Bethesda
See what's staying open over the Labor Day weekend and what will be closed in Bethesda.
BETHESDA, MD — As you get ready to finish up working for the week and prepare for the long weekend, take a look at what will be open and closed in Bethesda and Montgomery County this Labor Day. Most office buildings will be closed, but be sure to look at Montgomery Parks recommended activities for the weekend if you're looking for something to do outside.
Labor Day is Monday, Sept. 6. Here's what's going to be open and closed in Bethesda and Montgomery County:
Montgomery County office buildings: closed

Montgomery County courts: closed
Montgomery County libraries: closed

Alcohol Beverage Services stores: all stores open from noon to 5 p.m.
Ride On and Flash Bus Service: operating on a regular Sunday schedule on Monday. See the schedule here.
Parking at public garages, lots and curbside meters: Free Monday
Metrorail and Metrobus: The metrorail and bus will operate on a Sunday schedule on Monday.
MARC Train and Commuter Bus: There will be no MARC train or commuter bus service, except for #201 which will operate on a Sunday schedule.
Trash and recycling: The county will not pick up trash and recycling this Monday. The collection date will shift one day forward and continue in that pattern until Sept. 11. So if your usual pickup day is Monday, it will be Tuesday this week, if it is usually Tuesday it will be pushed to Wednesday, and so on.
Shady Grove Transfer Station: Closed on Monday.
Recreation and Parks: All recreation and senior centers will be closed. The following facilities will be closed:
- Montgomery Parks Headquarters and Permits Offices
- Montgomery Parks Information and Customer Service Office
- Pauline Betz Addie (opens in a new tab) and Wheaton Indoor(opens in a new tab) Tennis Centers
- Cabin John Ice Rink (opens in a new tab)and Wheaton Ice Arena (opens in a new tab) (also closed September 4 and 5)
- Josiah Henson Museum and Park(opens in a new tab)
- Indoor nature facilities(opens in a new tab) buildings are closed, visit calendar for schedule of outdoor programming(opens in a new tab).
- Meadowside Nature Center building remains closed for renovations.
- Brookside Nature Center building closed beginning Sept. 1, 2021 for renovations.

- Open to pedestrians and bicyclists (closed to cars), from Friday, Sept. 3, at 9 a.m., to Tuesday, Sept. 7, at 7 a.m.

- Old Carroll Avenue to Piney Branch Road (1.1 miles)
- Forest Glen Road to University Boulevard West (1.5 miles)
- Beach Drive from Connecticut Avenue to Knowles Avenue (2.7 miles)
- Sligo Creek Parkway
- Open to pedestrians and bicyclists (closed to cars), from Saturday, Sept. 4, at 7 a.m., to Tuesday, Sept. 7, at 7 a.m.
- Little Falls Parkway from River Road to Arlington Road (1 mile)
- Open to pedestrians and bicyclists (closed to cars), from Friday, Sept. 3, at 9 a.m., to Tuesday, Sept. 7, at 7 a.m.
