What's Open, Closed in Montgomery County For New Year's Day 2017

ROCKVILLE, MD — Montgomery County government will observe the following holiday schedule for the New Year’s holidays:

• County Offices – closed Monday, January 2
• Libraries – closed January 1, 2
• County Liquor stores – closed
• Recreation – All facilities and programs closed January 1. Senior centers are closed through January 2. For information on schedules for aquatic facilities and community centers during the holiday week go to http://www.montgomerycountymd....
• Montgomery Parks - for the holiday operating schedule on Parks’ facilities visit www.MontgomeryParks.org
• Ride On – Sunday, January 1: Sunday schedule; Monday, January 2: Sunday schedule (New Year's Day - observed)
• Metrorail – Information available at www.wmata.com
• Metrobus – Information available at www.wmata.com
• TRiPS Commuter Stores (Silver Spring and Friendship Heights) – closed
• Transfer Station and Poolesville Beauty Spot– closed on January 1
• Refuse/recycling pickup – will operate as scheduled
• The Shady Grove Processing Facility and Transfer Station - closed
• Parking at public garages, lots, curbside meters – free
• MCPS Schools and Administrative Offices – Schools and offices closed Monday, January 2
• State offices and courts – closed Monday, January 2

Rockville Closings, Changes

Rockville City Hall will be closed Monday, Jan. 2 for the New Year's holiday.
Recycling and refuse will be collected one day later throughout those weeks. Find more information at www.rockvillemd.gov/recycling-refuse.

Other Rockville facilities will operate on the following schedule this month:

• Croydon Creek Nature Center will be open 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 31, and closed Sunday, Jan. 1. The center is closed Mondays.
• The F. Scott Fitzgerald Theatre box office will resume regular hours Tuesday, Jan. 3. Tickets are always available at www.rockvillemd.gov/theatre.
• The Rockville Senior Center, including the fitness room, will close at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 31, and is closed Sundays.
• The Rockville Swim and Fitness Center will be open 6 a.m.-4 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 31, closed Sunday, Jan. 1, and open Monday, Jan. 2. Visit www.rockvillemd.gov/swimcenter for lap and program schedules.
• Lincoln Park and Thomas Farm community centers and Twinbrook Community Recreation Center will be open 10 a.m.-6 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 31 and Monday, Jan. 2, and closed Sunday, Jan. 1.
