working with an insurance company

sexism, control and firing

I had some time to do some research in the insurance industry lately. What I found was how badly women were treated, and how quickly women were fired.

I took the state insurance test around mid-December, and went into training during the Christmas break. I promptly became sick with the stomach flu bug that was making the rounds and the only thing I heard were threats by my boss about being fired due to the fact that I was really sick, no empathy, no sympathy, just loud orders being barked at me over the phone that if I were to even miss another day to flu I would be fired on the spot.

two weeks later I was out working in the field and my phone charger died and I was fired for basically being unprepared and not traveling with a new phone charger at all times.

I was the only girl being trained with a group of guys at the times, none of them were threatened, or ever fired for being a nuisance. It is interesting how much we take for granted by being women and hard working at that-it simply doesn't matter after all and men fire women all the time. for very little reason, no explanation, it is simply done by the big boss. who could care less that you have no money to buy food or gas.

Sexism still exists, beyond the me too movement. the day before I was fired my boss and trainer were making jokes about me having breast cancer, simply to call attention to my breasts and their size, they simply do not care about whatever rules exist in the work world or whatever they do to embarrass me on the job. It is all the same to them, they simply do not care about women in their place of work. They treated me horribly and fired me the next day. End of story
