1 Dead After Rear-Ending Tractor-Trailer In PG County

Maryland State Police said the crash happened Friday morning on Interstate 495 near Oxon Hill.

PRINCE GEORGE'S COUNTY, MD — A person died on Interstate 495 on Friday morning when the SUV they were driving rear-ended a tractor-trailer.

According to Maryland State Police, the crash happened around 3:45 a.m. in the northbound lanes near the Anacostia Freeway. Police said the driver of a Jeep Compass died when the vehicle collided with a semi parked on the left shoulder.

Police did not release the victim's name. The driver of the tractor-trailer declined medical treatment.

The roadway was closed for several hours following the crash, but has since reopened.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
