19-Year-Old Hyattsville Man Fatally Shot In Montgomery County: Police

PRINCE GEORGE'S COUNTY, MD — Three men were shot in Piney Branch early Wednesday morning, including a 19-year-old from Hyattsville who later died.
The shooting happened in the 100 block of Colony Road. Montgomery County police officers responded to the call for a shooting shortly before 4 a.m. Officers found three men with gunshot wounds. Two were taken to area hospitals in serious condition.
The 19-year-old, later identified as Willians Anderson Alberto Cruz, was found in a wooded area toward the back of the property with gunshot wounds. Police officers and emergency workers performed CPR but he was pronounced dead at the scene. A fourth man was found uninjured at the scene. A fourth male victim was located uninjured at the scene.

A preliminary investigation by detectives has determined that the victims were at the location when they were approached by an unknown number of suspects who began to shoot at them.
