PG County Schools Make Schedule Change for Jan. 8

Prince George's County Schools and offices are operating under a Code Orange Wednesday, Jan. 8, which affects when they will be opening.

PRINCE GEORGE'S COUNTY, MD -- Prince George's County Public Schools and offices are opening on a two-hour delay Wednesday, Jan. 8, according to a PGCPS release.

PGCPS schools and offices will be operating under a Code Orange on Wednesday. Emergency personnel are not eligible for liberal leave and are required to report to work on time

The Washington, D.C. metro area is under a winter weather advisory, including Baltimore and eight Maryland counties.

Here are other programs affected by the Code Orange, taken verbatim from the PGCPS release:

  • There will be no work-study transportation. (Those students should not report to school.)
  • There will be no half-day Early Childhood Center (ECC), half-day Special Education Programs, or half-day PreK.
  • Any other school program requiring transportation prior to 12 noon will NOT have transportation, including Howard B. Owens Science Center, JA Finance Park, and William S. Schmidt Center (Camp Schmidt)
  • All field trips will be cancelled.
  • Food Services will offer breakfast.
