2 Injured After Major Crash Shuts Down Beltway In PG County
Both victims were trapped inside of a vehicle on the inner loop of the Beltway Thursday morning.

MORNINGSIDE, MD -- One person has critical injuries and another has serious injuries after a major crash on the inner loop of the Beltway Thursday morning.
Prince George's County Fire spokesman Mark Brady tweeted at 8:29 a.m. that both PGFD and Maryland State Police were working a serious crash in which both victims were trapped inside of a vehicle on the Beltway near Allentown Road.
The crash forced the shutdown of the entire Beltway as rescuers extricated the patients from their vehicles.

Brady reported at 9:02 a.m. that the second patient was still "heavily trapped within wreckage of the vehicle," and firefighters were still working on the "difficult extrication."
Finally, at 9:21 a.m., Brady tweeted that the second patient was extricated and was taken to an area trauma center in critical condition.

Expect delays to continue on the Beltway as Maryland State Police continue their work, Brady added.
