2 Men Charged In Connection To Fatal Hotel Shooting: Prince George's Police

Two men have been charged in connection to a fatal hotel shooting that claimed two men's lives, according to Prince George's Police.

PRINCE GEORGE'S COUNTY, MD — Two suspects have been charged in connection to a fatal shooting that unfolded at a motel in Camp Springs. A third suspect was killed during the incident.

On June 28 at approximately 7 a.m., Prince George's County police officers were called to a motel in the 5100 block of Allentown Road. Officers found both the victim, 23-year-old Xavier Matthews of Temple Hills, and a suspect, 26-year-old Karon Moore of Washington, D.C., with gunshot wounds. Matthews was taken to a hospital where he was pronounced dead. Moore was pronounced dead on the scene, according to the Prince George's County Police Department.

A preliminary investigation revealed that Matthews and 24-year-old Keymonte Day of Washington, D.C., were staying at the motel when several men entered their room and attempted to rob Matthews. The men who barged into the room included Moore and 22-year-old Christopher Jamar Jenkins of Capitol Heights.

During the attempted robbery, Moore and Matthews were hit by gunfire. The other men all fled the room. The preliminary investigation revealed Day conspired with the other men to rob Matthews. Day and Jenkins face multiple charges that includes first-degree murder.
