Girl Dies in Shooting That Locked Down 2 Schools Monday: Prince George's County Police
Two PGCPS school were on lockdown for an hour Monday afternoon following a shooting. A girl who was shot nearby has died, police said.

LANHAM, MD — A teenage girl who was shot in Lanham Monday afternoon has died, police said, while lockdowns have been lifted at two schools in the area.
Prince George's County Police were called to a shooting near Palamar Drive and Woodstream Drive.

The girl was found with critical injuries and taken to the hospital, where she died, authorities said shortly before 5:30 p.m.
Officials have confirmed that the girl was a student at DuVal High School, FOX DC reported. Her name has not yet been released.

"It is with heavy hearts that we mourn the tragic loss of a DuVal High School student," the school district said in a statement. "Prince George’s County Public Schools extends our thoughts and deepest condolences to the student's family and friends during this incredibly difficult time."
Grief counselors and mental health professionals will be on campus Tuesday to support students and staff as they cope with the death.
DuVal High School at 9880 Good Luck Road in Lanham and Robert Goddard Middle School at 9850 Good Luck Road in Lanham were on lockdown for about an hour.
A reward of up to $25,000 has been offered for information leading to an arrest and indictment in this case. Detectives are asking that anyone with information on this murder contact the department or Crime Solvers.
