2 Teens Use Stolen Vehicle In Armed Carjacking: Prince George's Police

Two 16-year-old boys used a stolen Kia in an armed carjacking in Landover, according to Prince George's police detectives.

PRINCE GEORGE'S COUNTY, MD —Two 16-year-old boys have been arrested in connection to an armed carjacking police say they committed while using a stolen Kia.

Both suspects live in Washington, D.C., and have been charged as adults, the Prince George's Police Department noted.

On Feb. 2 at approximately 1:40 a.m., officers responded to the 7700 block of Landover Road in Landover for the report of an armed carjacking. The victims told officers they had been carjacked at gunpoint by multiple suspects while using an ATM. The teen suspects also stole property from the victims then left the crime scene in the victims’ car as well as the white Kia they had arrived in, according to a police report.

Later that morning, at approximately 11:45 a.m., Prince George's police officers saw the white Kia used in the carjacking. The detectives stopped the Kia Optima in the 4700 block of Marlboro Pike in Capitol Heights. The Kia had been reported stolen Jan. 31 in a neighboring jurisdiction. The two juvenile suspects were taken into custody. Some of the victims’ property taken during the carjacking was also recovered.
