PRINCE GEORGE'S COUNTY, MD — Two suspects have been arrested in connection to the theft of a Kia after it was seen Feb. 7 at approximately 12:20 p.m. in the 1400 block of Opus Avenue in Capitol Heights.
The Prince George’s County Police Department’s Washington Area Vehicle Enforcement team has arrested 19-year-old Tyree Pearson of Washington, D.C., and 18-year-old Kevin Hawkins of Capitol Heights.
Police saw the Kia that had been reported stolen and stopped it Feb. 7. The driver and passenger both were taken into custody. A USB charging cord was recovered in the car, which police say was used to start the stolen vehicle. This method of using a USB cord to steal certain Kias and Hyundais is a trend that’s been shared on social media nationwide.
