2nd Student Arrested for Creepy Clown Threat Against PG County Schools: Police

Prince George's County Police say students at Parkdale and Bladensburg high schools threatened violence.

LANDOVER, MD — Police have made a second arrest in connection with threats made against Prince George's County schools on Monday.

Police arrested an 8th grader at Kenmoor Middle School in Landover on Tuesday, which was one of the schools mentioned in the threat that circulated online over the weekend, according to a report from the Prince George's County Police Department.

"He’s linked to the sending of the original threat via social media on Saturday which prompted additional resources at several schools this week," the report states. "The investigation has determined this threat was not credible and was intended only as a disruption. The student is charged with Threat of Mass Violence."

Police say the Riverdale teen set up a Twitter account with a clown theme while in class, then tweeted threats to harm anyone at Parkdale High School during the school day Monday. The suspect is charged with threat of mass violence and other related charges.

In an unrelated case, detectives say another student used social media to make a bomb threat to Bladensburg High School and school officials are taking disciplinary action against the unnamed student. The threat does not appear credible, police said. Criminal charges in this case have not been placed pending additional investigation.

Police added that they will continue to "take seriously all threats against targets in this county" and will go after anyone responsible for making such threats.

Detectives ask that anyone who see threats of violence on social media to call police instead of forwarding that post. This helps detectives trace the origin of the threat more quickly.
