$33K Airbag Theft Spree Ends In Arrest: Police
A man stole nearly $33,000 worth of airbags, police said. The scheme spanned several months and involved more than 100 cars, a report added.
LANDOVER, MD — Police accused a Landover man of stealing more than 100 airbags in recent months. Officers noted that they arrested the suspect, 30-year-old Michael Roane, last Thursday. An incident report added that he faces charges of:
- 35 counts of theft scheme
- Motor vehicle theft
- Tampering with motor vehicles
- Other related crimes
Officers mentioned that they found Roane in a car reported as stolen from Washington, D.C. Police explained that they caught him with 13 airbags. They alleged that Roane stole them from Prince George's and Montgomery counties earlier in the day.
The Prince George's County Police Department advised that Roane swipes airbags from Hondas and sells them. The write-up indicated that the 13 recovered airbags are worth about $32,500. Detectives reported that they are still investigating whether Roane sold the dozens of other missing airbags.
