5 People Shot Leaving Funeral In PG County: Police

The shooting happened Friday afternoon as the victims were leaving a funeral at Fort Lincoln Cemetery​ in Brentwood, police said.

BLADENSBURG, MD — Five people leaving a funeral were injured Friday afternoon when shots rang out on a bridge in Bladensburg, a town located in Prince George's County.

According to Bladensburg Police Chief Tyrone Collington Sr., the victims were leaving a funeral at Fort Lincoln Cemetery in Brentwood shortly before 12:30 p.m. when a gunman in a dark-colored vehicle fired shots into their car.

According to Collington, the shooting happened on a bridge in the 4300 block of Bladensburg Road, near the intersection of Annapolis Road. All five victims were riding in the same car and only one car was struck by gunfire, police said.

“This is uncommon in this community,” Collington said. “This was an unnecessary, senseless act of violence.”

Collington said the victims were taken to nearby hospitals for treatment. Their current conditions are unknown.

No arrests have been made, police said.
