The father of four discretely told his wife he won $50,000, so that he wouldn’t alarm his children of what just happened. They kept the secret to themselves as they had dinner with their family.
When claiming the prize this week, he shared with lottery officials that he plans to pay bills with his winnings and help his daughter purchase a car.

Also celebrating the Bowie resident's win is the lottery retailer that sold the winning ticket. Hilltop Wine and Spirits at 6856 Race Track Road in Bowie will receive a bonus of $500, equal to 1% of the prize amount.
