Firefighter Dies Following 24-Hour Shift

A firefighter and paramedic out of Station 841 in Calverton died this past weekend after finishing up a 24-hour shift.

PRINCE GEORGE'S COUNTY, MD — A firefighter and paramedic with the Prince George's County Fire/EMS Department died after a 24-hour shift, officials disclosed.

Demair Lloyd had just finished his shift this past weekend and was at home when he experienced a medical emergency, the department stated. He had been with the fire and EMS department since 2006, working out of Station 841 in Calverton.

"He was not only a valued teammate but also a dear friend, and his absence is deeply felt by all of us in our fire department family. Please keep Firefighter/Paramedic Lloyd’s family, friends and everyone at Station 841/Calverton in your thoughts and prayers during this very difficult time," the fire and EMS department stated.

No additional details were disclosed.
