Firefighter Dies Following 24-Hour Shift
A firefighter and paramedic out of Station 841 in Calverton died this past weekend after finishing up a 24-hour shift.

PRINCE GEORGE'S COUNTY, MD — A firefighter and paramedic with the Prince George's County Fire/EMS Department died after a 24-hour shift, officials disclosed.
Demair Lloyd, 44, had just finished his shift this past weekend and was at home when he experienced a medical emergency, the department stated. He had been with the fire and EMS department since 2006, working out of Station 841 in Calverton.
"He was not only a valued teammate but also a dear friend, and his absence is deeply felt by all of us in our fire department family. Please keep Firefighter/Paramedic Lloyd’s family, friends and everyone at Station 841/Calverton in your thoughts and prayers during this very difficult time," the fire and EMS department stated.

In 2024, Lloyd received a Life Safety Award for his care of a cardiac arrest patient who made a full recovery, due in large part to Lloyd's lifesaving efforts.
A fundraiser has been created for Lloyd's family at The Yard Foundation.

"Lloyd was known for always checking in on his colleagues and friends, and for his calm, steady presence on emergency calls. His dedication to others and unwavering professionalism earned the respect and admiration of those who served alongside him," the fundraiser stated.
"Throughout his career, he made a lasting impact on countless lives through his compassion, commitment to service, and exceptional care. He will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing and working with him."
