Firefighters Battle 2 Blazes At Homes In Hyattsville, New Carrollton

House fires were reported at two Prince George's County homes. No injuries were reported in either incident.

PRINCE GEORGE'S COUNTY, MD — Crews battled two house fires Wednesday afternoon and evening.

The first house fire was reported around 4:49 p.m. Firefighters arrived at the home located in the 7800 block of Powhatan Street in New Carrollton. Crews found a fire in the kitchen that had extended into the attic at the two-story, single family home. The fire was extinguished without injuries, but is being investigated, officials said.

The second house fire broke out around 6:50 p.m. at a two-story single family home located in the 6100 block of 42nd Avenue in Hyattsville. Firefighters found flames shooting through the roof. They extinguished the fire and no injuries were reported. That fire also is being investigated, the fire department noted.
