Former Bowie Police officer give home detention after shooting at man in 2024 (wjla.com) β Bowie residents are learning that former city police officer Robert Warrington will serve 18 months of home detention, with a much longer sentence suspended, after firing at a man during a 2024 stalled-vehicle call near Collington Road and U.S. 50. Prosecutors say the case shows no officer is above the law, and Warrington will also face years of probation.

Teen Sentenced In Fatal Beating, Burning Of Landover Man (patch.com) β A Mitchellville teenager has been sentenced to 30 years in prison, plus probation, for killing and burning a Landover man whose body was found in woods just outside Bowie. Prosecutors say the 2025 attack followed a dispute between the two, and an autopsy revealed severe blunt-force injuries and postmortem burning before police arrested the then-16-year-old suspect.

Savannah Brooks (backstage.com subscription) β A recent acting profile highlights Savannah Brooks's role in "Arsenic and Old Lace" with Bowie Community Theater in Bowie, giving local theater fans a glimpse of one of the performers on their stage. 'We remember so we do not forget': Ceremonies across the DC region mark 25 years since 9/11 (wtop.com) β In Bowie, local leaders and residents gathered under a massive U.S. flag to solemnly mark the 25th anniversary of 9/11 and honor 24 Prince George's County victims. City officials praised first responders' courage, while survivors and community members across the region unveiled new memorials and artifacts to ensure the stories and sacrifices of that day are never forgotten.
