GREENBELT, MD — A man wanted in connection with a January shooting inside a Greenbelt restaurant was arrested this week after avoiding capture for months, police said.
The Greenbelt Police Department's Special Assignment Team took Karim Joshua Thomas into custody Monday.
Police said Thomas was wanted in connection with a Jan. 5 shooting inside the Hook & Reel restaurant. No one was hit by gunfire, according to the department.
Detectives obtained a warrant for Thomas' arrest in February, but police said they did not locate him until this week.
Thomas had a loaded handgun and controlled dangerous substances on him when he was arrested, police said.
Greenbelt police credited the officers involved with the arrest and apprehension.
"The safe apprehension of this armed and dangerous individual reflects the teamwork and professionalism of our officers," the department said. "We're extremely proud of the work they do every day to protect our community."
